The Workforce and Major Employers
Longview is home to a diversity of businesses and is known for its manufacturing workforce.
World-class leaders: Neiman Marcus, Dana Corporation, Eastman Chemical, LeTourneau, Inc., Stemco, Trinity Industries, and BorgWarner are examples of companies achieving high productivity and low cost operations in the region. Software developers – Tegron and Cubix – continue to grow attracting new high tech employees and the medical community continues its unprecedented growth.
A 2006 study by The Pathfinders found there are 25,700 people underemployed in the region. This valuable resource and the work ethic of the people of the region, provide a unique opportunity for business growth.
Longview and Northeast Texas are well known for their highly skilled and talented workforce. Neiman Marcus chose Longview for its national service center. Dana Corporation chose Longview for its new frame manufacturing facility that opened in 2002. Eastman Chemical, one of the largest employers, flourishes in this region.
The workforce of the region is eager to develop new opportunities and skills needed in today’s global economy. LeTourneau, Inc., Trinity Industries, and Bemis Custom Products praise the "can-do" attitude of Longview workers.
